Winter tires are only to be used during the winter season. You have the option to use winter approved all-weather tires, which is an all-around tire that can be used all year round. These are not classified as winter tires, but they have been approved for winter use but can also be used in warm conditions without it being detrimental for them. They are designed to cope with both warm temperatures during the summer combined with wet and dry surfaces, as well as they should be able to handle cold temperatures and slippery surfaces such as snow and ice. This is a great tire option for the locations that don’t have a full winter season but still need the occasional safety of winter tires when there is winter weather.
The tire option depends a lot on what is available in your country and what weather conditions are most present when you are driving. If you will drive in any type of winter weather, which can include any of the following: low temperatures, ice, or snow, you will need winter tires on your car to drive safely.
Make sure that you know that you might not be able to drive in every state and province if you choose studded tires. There will also be dates that you must obey when you are earlies allowed to have them on and when they have to be removed. The non-studded tires are much more versatile when it comes to that, but they need a summer tire option for the summer months. The all-weather tire is the only option that allows you to use only one tire for the whole year. This is usually not recommended in areas where you have a long and harsh winter, as here it makes sense to change to winter and snow tires. They are a better option when you want to have the safety all-year round and it can be difficult to achieve it due to the unpredictable weather or the fact that you travel between different regions on a constant basis so it doesn’t make sense to have one or the other tire option.
